My stay at Red Lion Hotel in downtown Boise, ID had its ups and downs. The rooms were okay; they had a large window that provided a nice open feel, but they got extremely steamy after a shower. The service was unfriendly and unhelpful, and there were some concerning practices with pets in the parking lot. The location was convenient, being a short drive from downtown attractions, but the surroundings were a bit spooky. The dining experience was below average, with additional charges for breakfast that was supposed to be included. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel had its positive aspects that stood out.

The room had a very nice view, and a special thank you to Jay, the most helpful, polite, and professional receptionist I've ever met. However, the room was very dirty with dust on fixtures and floor, long hairs on the bed sheets, a musty smell, and pee stains in the bathroom. Plus, the presence of about ten police officers early in the morning was quite scary.
Rooms

The room had a very nice view, and Jay, the receptionist, was extremely helpful. However, the cleanliness was disappointing.

Location
5.0
The location is conveniently about a 15-minute walk from the center, but it seemed like it wasn't well maintained and cleanliness was lacking.
Dining

The dining experience was below expectations with spilled juice covering the area. However, the granola was delicious.
Facilities

The facilities appeared worn out and not well-taken care of. Consideration should be made before using.

The hotel was conveniently close to an exit and the ice machine, but the rooms could have been bigger for the price paid and a bit cleaner. There was a very strong odor of cleaner that required leaving the door open to air out, and a leak from the vent onto the floor. The carpet throughout the hotel was old, worn, and emitted odors.
Rooms

The rooms could have been bigger for the price paid and a bit cleaner. We had to leave the door open to air out a strong cleaner odor. Additionally, there was a leak from the vent onto the floor, and the carpet was old, worn, and emitted unpleasant odors.
Service
7.0
The staff was friendly, efficient, and rectified problems quickly. However, there was a slight dismissal of our concerns regarding a noisy fan issue.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location was great in terms of easy access to downtown, but it was on the verge of becoming a problem, being close to a police station. The area was convenient yet had some downsides, especially with an eyesore view.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were limited and sometimes expensive, with mediocre selections and frequent unavailability of items. The quality of the offerings was not consistent.
Facilities
The hotel lacked sufficient dining options and maintenance in the rooms, with noticeable issues like a leak from the vent. However, the friendly staff and quick problem-solving were positive aspects of the stay.
